Urban Ottawa Maternity Safari

If I learned anything from Susan Robichaud, it is to expand your horizons when looking for shooting locations. Pretty parks are definitely not the only things that make for pretty pictures. And as a result, I am now officially in love with urban settings!! Ottawa has a number of hidden gems that would make for beautiful maternity portraits and I really hope to shoot some more in the future!

Urbanesque Workshop

This weekend I'm so excited to be attending Susan Robichaud's Urbanesque Workshop (http://www.susanrobichaud.com/) here in Ottawa. While I'm not shooting until tomorrow, I got a sneak peak of what's in store for me tomorrow as my kids were models for today's attendees! They were fantastic and hung in for much longer than I expected! Bribery really does go a long way :).

Here is Ottawa's Stephanie Cantin (http://www.stephaniecantin.ca/) shooting my daughter. I can't wait to see everyone's pictures!

First Haircut

Before:
After:

I will totally admit I have issues when it comes to my kids first haircuts. I just don't want to do it! The hair on their head is the hair that they were born with and I can't imagine cutting it off. It is like losing a part of their "baby-ness" However, my son was definitely due. His poor eyes always had hair in them and he would keep trying to push it aside, without much luck.
I kept promising my husband that we would take him as soon as Melonhead (http://www.melonhead.ca/) opened up in Ottawa. I was adamant about it. Our daughter had her first haircut at one of their Toronto locations and I wanted him to have the same experience. Fortunately (for my husband) Melonhead opened at Place d'Orleans this past Sunday.

If you've never been to Melonheads, go! They really know how to make that first haircut special and it is so fun for the kids! My son sat in Thomas the Tank Engine while be attended to and was distracted by toys, other kids and large tv's playing kids shows. On top of that, they do up a beautiful "First Haircut" certificate with a lock of hair and a picture. So fun!

Baby K at 3 Months!

I've been very lucky (and honoured) to be following the B family since they were eagerly anticipating their baby bundle back in February. It is hard to believe that baby K is now 3 months! We had a wonderful session on Saturday, which almost made us forget about how hard we had to work at his newborn session!

Thank you D & C for inviting me into your home once again. I'm looking forward to shooting K again in 3 more months and to see just how much he has grown during that time!

Just a Belly Baby: 12 days new:
And now 3 months already!

Little G

I was lucky enough yesterday to be asked to take some more pictures of little Baby G. I had done a session with this little princess back in January when she was just about 6 months old. She was so sweet and good then and at almost 10 months not much has changed! Well, she has grown a little.....and she is on the move....but other than that, her little lips and big blue eyes are just as striking!

Here she is last January:

And here she is now:

Thanks mom and Baby G, for a wonderful afternoon - my K is already planning G's next visit!

Happy Mother's Day!

Of all the titles one can be given, mother truly is the most special. I love my kids and I love being their mom. I can't get enough of being called mommy - it makes my heart melt. I want them to stay little and call me mommy forever *sigh* if only.

We have a wonderful mother's day tradition in our house that I look forward to all year. Every year we go out for brunch at one of my favourite local restaurants and then we take leisurely walk somewhere around town. This year we hit up the Tulip Fest around Dow's Lake, here in Ottawa. It was the most perfect morning in more ways than one. The weather was amazing, the tulips were glorious and I had my family with me. Who could ask for anything more?
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies out there! I wish you all a perfect day filled with much worshipping! Hope you have your own fond memories of 'our day'.

To my own mom - who's two grown daughters never call her mommy anymore - Happy Mother's Day Mommy! I love you and miss you. Hope you enjoyed your breakfast!

Birth Announcements!

I've been working on new designs for the last little while and I'm so happy to finally share them with you! I'm really proud of them and I hope you will like them as much as I do.

Birth announcements are a great way to share the news of your baby's arrival with friends and family, not to mention, a wonderful keepsake.

Here are a few examples, with the rest on my website.

Thanks for looking!
