Growing Bigger!

Our little birdies have been growing bigger and bigger. It is amazing they even fit in the nest anymore!

We did catch their first flight on the weekend....however, I think it was a little unexpected on our part and theirs. They had enough of our watering and took to the sky! It was a beautiful thing to see and we wish them a nice birdie life. Hopefully they will return next year and build a family of their own!

A different sort of Newborn

A few weeks ago, we went away on vacation. Once we returned, I went about my everyday tasks, which include watering and deadheading my hanging baskets. When I pulled them down from the hook the very first time, I was delighted at what I saw - a Robin's nest!! Since then, the kids and I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the babies.

Well the other day the little newborns made their arrival!

Look how cute they are! No feathers yet, but that fuzz is just adorable. Unfortunately, one egg didn't make it. Such is life, I guess. Poor Mama.
We are very excited to watch these little birds take to the sky in the the next week or so. Hopefully we'll be there (camera in hand!) to catch the action!

Childhood Photography

Childhood seems to be such a fleeting moment in our children's lives these days. I'm not sure if it is us as parents, or society in general that pushes our children to grow up much faster than they need to. One minute it is toys and dolls and the next it is music and clothes! Why not stop the clock for a moment and consider hiring a custom child photographer to capture this special stage - before it is too late! If you are interesting in preserving your family memories for generations to come, please feel free to call or email me to book your appointment today!

Urban Ottawa Maternity Safari

If I learned anything from Susan Robichaud, it is to expand your horizons when looking for shooting locations. Pretty parks are definitely not the only things that make for pretty pictures. And as a result, I am now officially in love with urban settings!! Ottawa has a number of hidden gems that would make for beautiful maternity portraits and I really hope to shoot some more in the future!

Urbanesque Workshop

This weekend I'm so excited to be attending Susan Robichaud's Urbanesque Workshop (http://www.susanrobichaud.com/) here in Ottawa. While I'm not shooting until tomorrow, I got a sneak peak of what's in store for me tomorrow as my kids were models for today's attendees! They were fantastic and hung in for much longer than I expected! Bribery really does go a long way :).

Here is Ottawa's Stephanie Cantin (http://www.stephaniecantin.ca/) shooting my daughter. I can't wait to see everyone's pictures!

First Haircut

Before:
After:

I will totally admit I have issues when it comes to my kids first haircuts. I just don't want to do it! The hair on their head is the hair that they were born with and I can't imagine cutting it off. It is like losing a part of their "baby-ness" However, my son was definitely due. His poor eyes always had hair in them and he would keep trying to push it aside, without much luck.
I kept promising my husband that we would take him as soon as Melonhead (http://www.melonhead.ca/) opened up in Ottawa. I was adamant about it. Our daughter had her first haircut at one of their Toronto locations and I wanted him to have the same experience. Fortunately (for my husband) Melonhead opened at Place d'Orleans this past Sunday.

If you've never been to Melonheads, go! They really know how to make that first haircut special and it is so fun for the kids! My son sat in Thomas the Tank Engine while be attended to and was distracted by toys, other kids and large tv's playing kids shows. On top of that, they do up a beautiful "First Haircut" certificate with a lock of hair and a picture. So fun!

Baby K at 3 Months!

I've been very lucky (and honoured) to be following the B family since they were eagerly anticipating their baby bundle back in February. It is hard to believe that baby K is now 3 months! We had a wonderful session on Saturday, which almost made us forget about how hard we had to work at his newborn session!

Thank you D & C for inviting me into your home once again. I'm looking forward to shooting K again in 3 more months and to see just how much he has grown during that time!

Just a Belly Baby: 12 days new:
And now 3 months already!
